I have to disagree with you about tap water. Because of the chemicals used in most areas to kill the bacteria, it isn't worth drinking, forget about fasting on it.

Distilled water is recommended because it naturally draws things from the environment that it is in. Leave a bottle of distilled water open, and then test it again, and you will see what I mean.
