Basically, wrist straps as considered to be among the least effective of electrods but may be slightly better than TENS electrode pads. Yes, they can cause rashes and even burns. The metal should not contact the skin but instead, a pad should be formed using a paper towel that has been soaked in salt water and then placed between the strap and the skin.
