It has always been used as a digestive aid and anthelmic; of course if you have a low selenium diet it will deplete your Se and give you lung cancer. However in the old days you where already long in the tooth by the time you took up that habit.

Yup, get everyone eating garlic and broccoli/cauliflower grown in Se depleted soil. Preferably micro waved then there is zero benefit only detriment...
