Nobel Laureate, Dr. Otto Warburg, in his article “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer” (1966) wrote, “Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. Almost anything can cause cancer. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen (oxidation of sugar) in normal body cells by fermentation of sugar… In every case, during the cancer development, the oxygen respiration always falls, fermentation appears, and the highly differentiated cells are transformed into fermenting anaerobes, which have lost all their body functions and retain only the now useless property of growth and replication.“ (http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/Loxygen2.htm).
More research can be found here: www.normalbreathing.com/cancer.html. Hence, growth of tumours depends on oxygenation of the body and the body oxygenation changes throughout the day. How to measure oxygenation? Breath holding time test reflects body's O2 content.
How the test is done?
After your usual exhale, pinch your nose and count your BHT (breath holding time) in seconds. Keep nose pinched until you experience the first desire to breathe. Practice shows that this first desire appears together with an involuntary push of the diaphragm or swallowing movement in the throat. (Your body warns you, "Enough!") If you release the nose and start breathing at this time, you can resume your usual breathing pattern (in the same way as you were breathing prior to the test).
Do not extend breath holding too long. This is the most common mistake. You should not gasp for air or open your mouth when you release your nose. The test should be easy and not cause you any stress. The BHT test does not interfere with your usual breathing.
Russian doctors conducted thousands of BHT tests and got the following results:
1-10 s - severely sick, critically and terminally ill, usually stages 3 and 4 cancer patients.
10-20 s – cancer patients (stages 1 and 2) whose health state gets progressively worse.
20-40 s - people with poor health, but without tumor growth.
Over 40 s – gradual disappearance of tumors.
What are the circadian BHT changes?
For most people, the breath holding time is largest in the evening (e.g., before sleep), and shortest during early morning hours (4-7 am): the time when people most often die from heart disease, asthma attacks, epilepsy, bronchitis, etc.
The BHT can drop 2-3 times when measured immediately after awakening. Moreover, most cancer patients start to breathe through the mouth (easy to check: is mouth dry after sleep?) reducing consumption of NO (nitric oxide) which is produced in sinuses and dilate blood vessels.
The most useful step to prevent morning hypoxia and feeling miserable is ... to tape one's mouth. That can increase morning breath holding time about 2 times and greatly reduce negative symptoms. Currently, ten thousands of people worldwide tape their mouths at night. Another important step is to prevent sleeping on one's back.
There are many other lifestyle factors that increase body oxygenation: physical exercise with nasal breathing only, correct posture 24/7, sleeping on hard bed, raw diets, etc.
A medical therapy to improve one's oxygenation
There is one holistic therapy which uses the oxygenation index (stress-free breath holding time after usual exhalation), as the main parameter of health of the person. This therapy was developed by Soviet physiologist and Doctor Konstantin Buteyko. The Buteyko breathing method focuses on improving tissue oxygenation. The method has 2 main parts: breathing exercises for better oxygenation and correction or normalization of lifestyle factors that increase body oxygenation.
