Having a bath is not only to cleanse our skin or just to feel refreshed, but it is also a perfect way to shed tension. The Greek physician, Hippocrates (c460 - 377 BC) maintained that "the way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage everyday". Most famous beauties had extravagant bath recipes, containing ingredients such as crushed strawberries and champagne, but the simple addition of diluted essential oils can make a bath equally luxurious.
Here are my favorite blends that I want to share with you. Try them and I assure you they work wonders.
Extravagant Blend :
Essential oils : 2 drops each of neroli and rose, 1 drop sandalwood
Carrier oil : 5 ml sweet almond
Milk & Honey Bath :
Essential oil: 10-25 drops of mandarin or geranium
Base : 1 tsp liquid detergent, 110 ml of either sweet almond or sunflower oil, 25 vodka, 55 ml milk, 1 tsp honey, 1 egg
Wake - up Blend :
Essential oils : 2 drops each of petitgrain and rosemary, 1 drop geranium
Carrier oil : 5 ml sweet almond
While the bath is filling with warm water (avoid very hot water, which strips the skin of natural oils, thereby drying it out), dilute 5 drops of your chosen essential oils in the carrier oil. Add the oil blend when the bath is nearly full, so you can enjoy the effects fully before the oils begin to evaporate. To enhance the relaxing atmosphere, bath by candle-light.
Enjoy !
