Good post Chiron,
yes I did notice Mr Purinton was in favor of assisting the body with elimination during the first three and usually hard transitional days into ketosis, but his opinion was most definitely in the minority with fasting supervisors.
Autolysis isn't necessarily uncomfortable or trying during a fast, but will largely depend on the overall toxemic state of the tissues whilst doing so: the greater the state of toxemia, then the worse the symptoms of elimination.
If the body is not toxemic, or has very little toxemia, then autolysis can proceed as a very pleasant & enjoyable experience without all of the above discomforts. This was evidenced on my second prolonged fast which lasted 30 days and was altogether a thoroughly enjoyable experience, both mentally and physically.
This was also the experience of the pioneers of Natural Hygiene, including Shelton, and who came to their own conclusions largely independently of each other.
The function of the Master-Cleanse could (in some ways) be achieved by fresh juice fasting, as this will also aid in detox and probably lead more comfortably into a full water fast. I would suggest the Master-Cleanse or juice fasting for at least a week to 10 days before commencing the water fast, and only then if the symptoms of the Water Fast are too hard to bear on the first 3 to 5 days, but there is a distinct possibility that this will make the transition an easier one.
I am not a fan of the SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) as I have already posted my opinion on this very recently.
Regards
Chrisb1.
