Thanks Animatedstar,
HHG's exhaustive and erudite response to your question answers most of mine.
I'd still like to hear her opinions on some other stuff I've been reading about such as:
- "There is considerable evidence that therapy with high doses of nutrients such as Glutathione, Selenium and Vitamin C improves the prognosis of people with "AIDS" tremendously.
(All AIDS patients have lowered levels of glutathione, the major water soluble intracellular antioxidant )" [http://www.suppressedscience.net/aids.html]
- "any effective treatment for HIV/AIDS must include normalisation of body levels of glutathione, glutathione peroxidase, selenium, cysteine, glutamine and tryptophan. " [How HIV-1 causes AIDS: implications for prevention and treatment , Medical Hypotheses , Volume 62 , Issue 4 , Pages 549 - 553 , H . Foster]
- "The amino acid N-acetyl Cystene (NAC) appears to inhibit HIV replication in a laboratory setting. Supplementation appears to slow the decline of immune function in HIV patients. When used with Glutamine, it helps in the production of glutathione, an antioxidant which appears to be helpful in preventing infection in HIV patients." [Robinson MK, et al. Glutathione deficiency and HIV infection. Lancet 1992;339:1603–1604.]
- "lysine & vitamin c (in combination)" (as a treatment)
Thanks.
P.S. I will get tested soon. Just building up the nerve to do it and trying to educate myself about what exactly to expect if I'm poz. It's been only a week since I discovered my risk.
