Hello-
I just had a right side liver ressection on May 20 to remove a cavernous liver hemangioma. The surgery saved my life for sure and if it had not been done, I am told that since it was still growing I would have needed a transplant. Though I have to live now with an ugly scar, neck and shoulder pain, a rough hospital stay and rough recovery, I am glad it is over and all of the hemangioma was removed from the right side and smaller amounts on the left side. I don't underestimate the surgery having gone through it, but choose your doctor and hospital carefully. Be sure there is a team following you, this is usually a transplant team who are completely understanding of what you are going through. Also, be sure the hospital unit you stay on is specific for your needs. I am happy to speak with anyone about my experience. There are many drawbacks to doing nothing, particularly a rupture, where you would bleed out. Hope my experience helps others. Judy
