I am speaking to you as a person that has worked in the manufacturing process of pharmaceuticals and other chemical processing.

Every pharmaceutical company does a research and development study of every drug developed by their competition, and knows as much or more than their competition knows. No matter what their research results find, even if it is life threatening, their research is kept secret.
There is an unwritten law between pharmaceutical companies. One does not dare to expose the other for any product. They all have something to hide in their past, and may have something to cover in the future, even over the counter pharmaceuticals. I will not mention what they are. I will say for example from my personal standpoint, I will never take Vicks Formula 44 or Nyquil. I am trying to word it carefully.

The reason every pharmaceutical company does extensive research on every new drug that hits the market is done for this reason. If they can change the formula in the slightest way and show any type of improvement for it's use, they will market it as a new drug to overtake the competition. There is a lot of money to be made with the launching of any new product on the market by presenting it as new and improved.

Because pharmaceuticals involve human studies, and has nothing to fear from their competition, you would be hard pressed to find independent researchers with the kind of financial backing that pharmaceutical companies have.

However, you may find more information than you want to know about a product, if you do a search using these words.

I know someone personally that was in the higher echelon of research for the FDA research. He personally appeared in court with a government lawyer representing the FDA in a lawsuit against a giant pharmaceutical company (namely Upjohn Pharmaceuticals).
When they appeared in court against the pharmaceutical company, he was shocked at what he saw. The pharmaceutical company had 52 law firms representing them in court.
Each of the law firms completely filled the court with all their lawyers, researchers and assistants. There were no seats left for watchers, this caused a closed court with no watchers or news representatives to witness the hearings.
The case resulted in one government lawyer against a full court of lawyers representing the pharmaceutical company.

The lone government FDA lawyer and the lone FDA researcher presented proof from witnesses and human researchers that had won the same case against a german pharmaceutical company in germany. The thinking was, there was already proof from another court of law, and enough independent research as proof with witnesses that suffered ill health from that product. The reason the FDA lawyer and FDA researcher presented the researchers and witnesse from germany was because, germany had proof in the human studies than independent researchers here.

The results were. The pharmaceutical company with it's army of lawyers had the case thrown out, because germans could not represent a separate case against an american pharmaceutical company. They stated that it was two different cases with two different entities involving two different governments, and had to be represented by witnesses and proof solely against the american company.

Even though it was the same product and made by a foreign pharmaceutical company. The evidence could not be applied to a different company with a different government.

It was like a modern day David against a bigger Goliath that could not fall.

You may ask why only one lawyer representing a case for the FDA. Looks like we may need to change our laws.
