Thanks for enlightening us.  Your suggestions of cleaning and detoxing the colon are excellent ones and I will be sure to incorporate the information into by remedies for heartburn and acid reflux.

I will say though that, while not wanting to turn well meant advice into a debate here,  actually the statement I made about too little stomach acid is not incorrect unless one wants to pick at nits. I suppose I could have more accurately stated that "most people who have heartburn have too little stomach acid instead of enough" and that it is the gas that results from undigested food which most often responsible for the stomach acid moving upwards and resulting in heartburn and acid reflux.

The post you refer us to supports what I stated as far as I can tell:

Acid Reflux is caused by stomach acid going UP into the esophagus where it is obviously not supposed to go (we don't feel the acid when it's in our stomach, or going downward). Things in our stomach are supposed to go down, not up. Almost 100% of the time (if there's no physical deformities), the cause of acid reflux is because there is gas or pressure of some type or another in the intestinal tract pushing UPWARD, and that gas or pressure causes the normal stomach acid go up into the esophagus where it can be felt.

And where does that gas most often come from?  Most often it is TOO LITTLE stomach acid - something that has been verified to me by at least two naturopaths and an MD who have related that almost everyone they have ever treated for heartburn and acid reflux type problems have had too little stomach acid instead of too much.  Obviously "pressure of some type of another" could well be involved due as a result of the natural swelling of pregnancy.

Again, thanks for the info.  Long term solutions are always better than short term relief - though sometimes both may be desired and beneficial.
