It is clear that there are, in effect, 2 sets of rules on this forum. One set of rules is reserved for those favored by the forum because they pander enough to its pretense of “support”, the other set of rules is reserved for those who do not accept pandering as part of their participation here.

Example:

When ParaZapper becomes #1 in sales or is mentioned (in a photo) in New Pathways magazine it is “newsworthy”, according to him, of course. And, of course, it is he who is interested in bringing this “good news” to forum’s readers. Only someone with a mental aberration would suspect there might be a commercial intent in these casual news stories.

If any other zapper maker were to do this sort of thing he or she would fall under the rules banning “advertisements and promotion”. What is considered “news posting” in the one case is considered “behavior subject to being banned from the forum” in the second case.

Example:

What if posters to the forum consisted only of zapper makers and they all signed their commercial name. Would the thought enter no one’s mind that there was a possible commercial intent in such an obvious practice? But if one poster, ParaZapper, is allowed to dominate the forum with a commercial signature every day of the year it is just a normal fixture of life on this forum. No problem. The only thing missing is the logo. It’s like the golfer who wears a Nike hat. No commercial intent, eh? Did you notice ParaZapper is the only commercial name on the forum? Has anyone thought of asking him to sign his name, David Etheredge? Just imagine all his postings with his real name at the end. It wouldn’t quite feel the same anymore, now would it?

Example:

When ParaZapper enters into a heated discussion with another poster on the forum the words “debate and argument” never cross anyone’s lips. But when someone enters the fray and becomes vociferous in response they are subject to the rules, including being accused of “arguing and debating”, God forbid, and are subject to being accused of the further heresy of upsetting the forum’s ethos of being a bastion of support.

Example:

When ParaZapper misstates the truth, or invents a truth of his own, it is a matter of his opinion. When another forum poster objects he or she is subject to the rules and may be accused of being “argumentative”.

Pretense is the currency of this forum. Hypocrisy is a constant undercurrent here and often breaks through to the surface. Commercialism is ever present here while being denied. Panderers do very well here. I am not the only one who has posted on this forum with similar observations. And I probably won’t be the last.
