Either method would be fine. If heat affects the finished product, I can see where having the recipient cook their own this time of year makes since. There is no guarantee that with overnight UPS they won't be subjected to excessive heat for a few hours. I would rather follow cooking directions than take the chance of decoctions becoming moldy in my possession due to excessive shipping heat.
