I remember that story when it was real time
news. It is a tragedy that she is still in
jail. It speaks to the level of denial which
is held up so that the companies who put out
these products can continue, business as
usual.

It would be interesting to see what the
statistics are on this issue however. The
article mentions Bill Clinton's diet soda
habit and his heart issues and the possible
connection. I had a rail thin friend who
just very recently keeled over while dancing
at a concert. She was only in her 50's and
died of a heart attack. It makes me wonder
what her soda habits were. Another friend
I know was a diet soda addict died of a
major heart attack a few years back. She
was only in her 40's and also not overweight.
I would imagine there could be a strong
connection but doubt any federally funded
studies will be appearing any time soon.
I do think it is important to keep the issue
alive however since Bill Clinton helped get
it mandated that the ONLY sodas which can
be sold in public schools are diet ones.
