Summer,
The following are suggestions and in my opinion in no way definite (smile).
You can check out these websites (which talks about enemas) along with the one I originally posted (you can do a cut and paste to your address bar):

I hope that you will consult with a naturopath or naturopathic doctor or someone who specializes in holistic medicine. Your local health food store may be able to give you a listing or leads. Sometimes there is someone on site at the local Health Food Store who can give you general information.
When I first started my detox program, I was under the care of a naturopath who had a doctorate. Later on I found an M.D., a former surgeon who could interpret my previous tests and order whatever tests required to monitor me.
Even if you are not suffering from a medical condition, I would be careful about starting a program without doing lots of homework and having someone monitor your progress.
I used distilled water that I buy from the health food store. I use organic coffee finely ground (I grind the beans at the healthfood store). I prepare one quart of coffee by drip method. (Although that is not the only method.) I am not fasting, so I give myself one quart of distilled water enema. I do not retain the water enema, it is just to remove gas and large particles. My doctor recommends if I am fasting to use Metamucil (or other brands of Psyllium Husks at a Health Food Store).
I prepare the coffee enema that night before and once it cools store in the fridge in a glass jar that I use just for the coffee enema. I warm up the distilled water and coffee (a little above room temperature) but am very careful because I do not want to damage my colon.
Here are the instructions from:
www.ineedcoffee.com/01/01/enema/
Supplies
You will need to buy a re-usable enema kit, available at most pharmacies. They are usually disposable (although they can be cleaned and reused for several months) and they are inexpensive.
Distilled water.
Organic coffee, any roasting level will do.
French Press pot.
Preparing the Coffee
Bring 8 cups of water to a boil.
Grind eight heaping spoonfuls of organic coffee. Put it in a french press pot.
Pour the water over the coffee grounds and let it steep then cool for one hour.
After this amount of time, the liquid should be about body temperature. If you stick your finger in the water it should be lukewarm, but not hot.
Press the coffee grounds to the bottom, then pour the coffee liquid into the enema bag.
Directions
Follow the directions that accompany the enema kit. Lie on your right side, inject and retain the coffee for 10-20 minutes. I recommend lightly massaging your abdomen from left to right (up the left side, and then left to right just below the navel).
Additionally, I recommend changing positions while retaining the coffee. After a few minutes turn over onto your back, a few minutes later switch to your left side before evacuating your bowels.
Concerns
Many people are concerned that the body will become 'addicted' to the enema. This fear is unfounded. The bowels can continue to function on their own after enemas are discontinued.
I trust you will proceed with care and caution. And I hope this info is helpful. I am sure there will be other responses.
Grace
