I think, for me, there is a difference in absorption and affect on system (especially stomach) between Iodoral and Lugols. I'm taking 25mg Iodoral in the AM and having a better response than with the Lugols (though the Lugols was the second-rate Rising Sun stuff). Iodoral is more expensive but may be worth it. Still can use Lugols for iodinated oils, etc.

I didn't do the loading test for absorption...am wondering how many here have done that and the value of it ($100 just to find if you are in the 10% who cannot absorb iodine?). Also wonder if the brown pee phenomenon could be excretion of Iodine (I had some weird stuff coming out for a few days). Went to a great talk locally by a chiropractor who is into the Iodine research and has had great results using Iodine with patients...gave a very well developed powerpoint presentation with lots of info. about the halogen replacement issue. He recommends doing 50mg a day of Iodoral for 6-9 months to detox the system, then 25mg for maintenance (though the amounts probably differ depending on individual circumstances).
