Hi *StarBrite,

The areas where you are experiencing pain are most likely related to the ileocecal valve/cecum and sigmoid colon. Many people have problems with their ileocecal valve sticking either open or closed and accompanying tenderness. You can help this by regularly massaging the area midway between your right hip bone and belly button. By pressing in and up you can often feel a gurgling and sometimes a clicking sensation. This will help the passage of waste material in that area. The sigmoid is also prone to problems as it is one of the bends (along with hepatic and splenic flexures) in the colon and waste can become more easily compacted in those areas.

Another possiblity is that the increased weight of your colon as a result of the increased fiber and loosened material is causing a strain on pelvic ligaments. Enemas or colonics can greatly help to excelerate the clearing of waste and are an advised adjunct to the colon cleanse. You may want to increase the number of enemas so that you can keep the waste moving...perhaps adding one at night before you go to bed so that you are not in so much discomfort while you're trying to sleep. Castor oil packs may also help to ease the pain and assist with the expelling process.
The jelly material you describe is very common in the beginning of a Colon Cleanse and is more recent mucoid material that has yet to harden. It is often very dark...brown or black, but can also be green, gray or amber colored. This is a good sign that indicates you are on your way to getting the gunk out. As you stay on the cleanse you are likely to see less of the jelly material and harder, more rubbery material. It can also be these colors.

After reading your second post. it is also possible that you are using too much fiber. If you are taking powdered psyllium then the recommended amount is 1 teaspoon psyllium + 1 tablespoon liquid Bentonite per shake. If you are using whole husk psyllium then use 1 tablespoon. The powdered psyllium is more concentrated so you don't need as much.

Hopefully these adjustments will enable you to have an easier time while you're doing the cleanse so that you can stick with it... the benefits are well worth the effort and perseverance!
