I have a grass catcher attachment for my lawn mower so I use the grass clippings for mulch. The clippings do keep down the weeds and conserve moisture. And the clippings eventually decay and make a very good natural fertilizer.

A few of my neighbors bag their clippings, so I use them also if I happen to run short.
