I am a 26-year-old male and have run into a rather strange problem with my girlfriend. I haven't been able to find a suitable answer on my own so I thought I'd turn to all of you for some assistance...

To get right to the point, it hurts to have sex. My girlfriend has what I consider a very small vaginal opening and her pubic bone is also very close to the opening. In the standard, missionary position, when I enter her, the top part of the head of my penis (the ridge where the head meets the shaft) hits her pubic bone causing some discomfort. It hurts even more when I pull it back out and her pubic bone hits the head of the penis from the other direction. Interestingly, if we do it "doggy style" I don't have this problem as the bottom or underside of my penis is now running along her pubic bone and I don't have the pronounced ridge on this side of my penis like I do on the top side.

A little background....both of us have had other sexual partners. I have never experienced anything remotely like this with any of my former girlfriends. Sex has always been great. She has never had any of her former boyfriends bring up the fact that sex was uncomfortable so I am assuming they had no problem either. We have both seen our physicians and gotten a clean bill of health (including STD testing, in case you are wondering),no structural abnormalities...nothing. We also use plenty of lubrication during sex but it does little to help.

This whole situation is quite strange and it has had an affect on our relationship. I love her and would love to make this work but this issue has held me back somewhat.

Have you ever heard of this sort of thing before and, more importantly, has anyone got any ideas about how to fix it? I would appreciate any advice on the matter. Thanks!!
