Yes, you sound like I was in college. I took 18-21 credits per semester, worked about 30 hours a week. I still had plenty of time to watch TV and hang out with friends, but when it came to schoolwork, I was such a procrastinator. I was so slack, that I would sometimes hand in assignments late beccause I was too lazy to do them, except at the last minute. I went to a small school and had all the teachers convinced that I was SO busy with the amount of classes and my job, but in truth I had plenty of time. They never penalized me for my lateness because they believed I was "swamped".
If there's one piece of advice I can give you, it's to get focused now, before you start graduate school. I don't know if every school and/or grad program is intese, but mine sure was, and it was a big shock to me.
It sounds like you are going to be paying for it yourself? You might want to look into grants and assistanceships and such. There are even books on how to apply to get free $$ (I have seen these at bookstores, but they may be at libraries or on the internet). At the school I went, I got tuition waiver and enough money to live on and just had to teach a few classes and/or grade papers each semester. Of course, being female in the math field was an advantage. If you are set on the school you want already, you may be less able to find free $$. My sister studies ecology; it took her a lot of time and writing to potential advisors, but she eventually found a place with funding. Just a thought.
Tina.
