Hi there,

I have IBS, and I have suffered constipation for many years. I used to take laxatives, but have changed my diet and now get by with fiber and water and better food. BUT, I am having some problems, and could use advice.

The routine that has been working for me best, is every other day (my IBS is SO sensitive, I can go into horrible spasms that I am in unbearable pain, so I must tread CAREFULLY). I have been taking an Aloe pill in the morning, and my diet and tons of water and fiber suppliments and in the afternoon, a fleet enema. That is the ONLY thing that has worked. Now, this is not perfect, but much better than it used to be for years, where I needed a laxative just to go only 2 times a week.

Anyway, lately, I am getting constipated again. The aloe pill isn't working very well, and the stools are dryer. I don't understand the dry part, because I drink so much water (almost a gallon a day).

I am very frustrated, I have tried many natural things before and this was the closest to working for me.

My question is, are there any other nutrients, suppliments, whatever, that can help. I must ask you to keep in mind how very sensitive my bowel is to stimulation and change, even my holistic doctor doesn't want me to do any cleanse becuase it might set off an attack (I once wound up in the emergency room from the pain). Yes, I have had a colonoscopy, and the doc said it was "beautiful"! LOL,

I must say, I can't face the thought of any kind of fasting, lengthy cleansing or detox programs. I forget what it is called, colon cleansing with water...the enema that cleans you out done by professionals...anyway, I had tried it, and my bowel couldn't tolerate it. Went into spasms. And this was a gentle try.

Given all this, can anyone advise what I might be able to add to my diet that might help me go more often, and also make the stool wetter and softer. I think that latter part would help enormously.
Thank you so much,
Val
