FF, the banks do have backing for their money. Of course they don't take your chunk of cash for your mortgage and put it into a nice little vault somewhere. They invest your interest, so that they have more net worth. It's a business. Banks do other things too, not just mortgages....They also pay you interest on deposits! Amazing.

Mortgages have been around for years and years. I have no idea why in the world you would have a problem with the banks that lend the big chunk of cash, so that people can own an investment of their own, because the average person is not walking around with that much cash, right? I know that my bank owns much less of my investment now that I've built up my equity.

And as far as real estate...who is going to protect you from being ripped off by sellers? Are you all so knowledgeable about how a large real estate transaction should be handled that you can do it yourself? So I'm assuming you all know how to read a title? You know how to properly inspect your purchase, and what kind of inspections you should get, and good inspectors out there that won't rip you off? And of course, you know all about how to negotiate to get the best deal for your house, right? And you all know how to sell a house without having someone come and sue you later because of improper disclosures, or improperly filled out forms? Yes, these people working very hard, in this horribly competitive field, are all just a bunch of fat, lazy, greedy losers, right?

And Miss Kitty, if you don't like your real estate agent, there are plenty more out there that you can hire.
