Here is the problem, my son, who is 24, can't stop thinking! now, i know that may sound funny, but he seriously has a problem with this, and the dr. wants him to take some AD, and i don't think that's a good idea! I want something natural!!! I was thinking MELATONIN??? WOULD THAT HELP? He is high strung to begin with, very tense, very anxious all the time, and goes through times of "anger" at whatever! He feels very depressed about life in general. But, his biggest problem, and this is not ONLY from OUR observations, but from his OWN MOUTH, is his inability to STOP THINKING! I've had nights like that myself, where i go over and over something, or i lay there worrying and worrying about whatever.....i know how that can be, and he has it MUCH WORSE, i mean, he's like this all day AND night.....sometimes he can't fall asleep....he drinks beer (maybe 2 a day, that's all) to just relax and NOT THINK.

This is not good. He has tried diff. relaxation techniques, but they don't work, bec. you need to be able to relax to do them, and he can't, in the first place.
He needs to be able to RELAX, slow down, calm down, and THINK SLOWLY, NORMALLY.....
but he can't. He has tried for years now, and my heart breaks for him, he sometimes has tears in his eyes when he describes this to me! He can't really concentrate or focus on something, say reading something, or even playing some kind of video game, bec. his mind is VERY FAST, TO FAST really. It won't slow down to NORMAL speed! He is HIGHLY INTELLIGENT! HOLY COW! I know very intelligent people have a problem with this, i have read so many biographies of people who were highly inteligent, and had the same exact problem...they seem depressed, anxious, nervous, tense, and ALWAYS THINKING! CAN'T TURN IT OFF!

if anyone out there can help him, please post here! like i said, i was thiking MELATONIN but i don't know.....what brand is best...etc???? Even if he gets out, and goes places with friends, gets exercise, etc.....NO HELP! he's at his wits end!
