Yes, that's a good idea - get your children to participate in the cooking, shopping, etc. Also, you could find recipes for healthy "sweets" that they'll enjoy - for example, the coconut oil fudge recipe somewhere in the coconut oil forum - so that they don't feel deprived of "fun" foods, but are not eating junk either.
