Eritrean's theory does have some merit. If I leave the skin on to heal and only remove the skin when it is mostly detached (the 6th day of peeling or after) I find the skin skin underneath is pink, smooth and has a kissable texture. However the skin still overgrows over the next week or so and the white stuff comes back when in contact with a liquid.

My bottom lip right now hasn't peeled for 2 weeks (yea!) and the skin is still pretty well attached. It doesn't look too bad, but doesn't exactly look great either.

I honestly think the lip is trying to heal itself but other factors come into play and prevent that from happening, whether its someone forcibly peeling the skin, something wrong inside the body or an underlying problem with the lip itself.

I'll post a pic of my lips when skin does eventually come off so you guys can judge the progress.
