News item May 15th 2008: "hidden Einstein letter to go to auction"
Einstein penned the letter on January 3 1954 to the philosopher Eric Gutkind, and it has been kept hidden ever since. We might wonder how, and by whom, such secrecy of the opinions one of the 20th C's most esteemed thinkers occurred, but suffice to say it was not by people who value the truth of things. [religious people?]
One of the country's leading experts on the Einstein, John Brooke of Oxford University, admitted he had not heard of [the letter].
In this letter, Einstein states:
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."
"For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions."
-end quotes-
So on top of being an atheist, Einstein, who was Jewish, rejected the idea that the Jews are God's favoured people. Well, obviously, since he does not believe in god.
I think this would point to some Jewish/British/American powers who kept the letter secret. That doesn't narrow it down much though.
Whatever secrecy remains as to who the deniers of truth were, it is very heartwarming for me and probably most atheists to finally get the bare truth as to Einstein's opinions on religion and god.
For me, I was about 12 yrs old when I first got the idea to reject religion and god. Up until then, I had been a member of a church organisation, went to sunday school and church services, prayed every night and read the bible sometimes on my own initiative. Einstein was also 12 yrs old when he saw the farce in the idea of god.
Why do so many religious humans continue to cling to such "childish" beliefs? Einstein points out that it is probably due to an insecurity.
In the interests of truth, the article also states this about Einstein and his atheist views:
"Despite his categorical rejection of conventional religion, Brooke said that Einstein became angry when his views were appropriated by evangelists for atheism. He was offended by their lack of humility."
So, on that note, I can only say "forgive me" for fighting fire with fire!! [meaning that religious people who reject my views, and often reject my right to hold these views, are also pretty dang lacking in humility for pretending to know that there IS a god].
I say that the circumstantial evidence is so strong that god was created by humans because religion and god have so often been used to control people... do you agree with this idea? [Religion is a TACTIC, and so god was created].
I do admit that we can never prove that god does not exist, and only if god shows theirself will the truth ever be known, so it won't likely ever be known... but still, for religious people, to base your life on a negative-known like "you can't prove he/she doesn't exist" is silly.
Finally - Yippeeeeee, Einstein is an atheist!!!
