Just because it is swollen, red, painful doesn't mean it is bad. It is actually good and showing the lips are trying to heal.

Here is a post about how Lysine high dose minimized the peeling. Lysine reduce Cortisol circulating in the blood.

The poster also said Protopic didn't help but we don't know their circumstances... such as it made it "worse" aka Acute Inflammation. I doubt they know Acute Inflammation is trying to heal the condition.
