Hi. Not sure if any of the other replies have mentioned this, I've read that zinc and manganese are important for balancing copper. I also have high copper and my chocolate cravings (high copper food) have diminished since I started on these supplements. I guess this means that I actually have biounavailable copper, which means, like your doc said, that the copper is there, but it can't bind because the heavy metals are in the way, so you get symptoms of copper deficiency and toxicity at the same time! Fun! There is lots of info on copper toxicity available. I also have very high lead and mercury, which complicates my issues further....
There are a few doctors and practitioners out there who are really into the copper thing. They say some pretty interesting things. Even give a high copper personality type. They all pop up if you do a search. The theories are pretty interesting and apply 100% in my case!
