I'm surprised they gave you the IUD even though you have not had kids--many doctors won't insert them if you haven't given birth. Reason being, that insertion is much more painful and difficult if that, er, gap has never been breached. :)

I had mine inserted after birthing 3 huge kids, so it really wasn't that bad--I did take a motrin beforehand, though.
