I hadn't really thought about environmental toxins. I left a job in Dec as a receptionist in a car dealership, where I had worked for about 8 months. Other than that, I haven't really been around a lot of different areas than usual. I moved to a bigger city in Jan of '03. One thing I thought might be a cause is not only a very bad diet, but also the fact that I have gone through short periods of time where I nearly starved myself to lose weight quickly (for pageants! Lame huh?). I would eat nothing but popcorn basically. I think that might have taken a toll on my hair. I also have dyed my hair a lot (I haven't dyed it in 3 months now & there is a LOT of gray!). Those are the main things that seemed to be factors to me. I used to have very thick, healthy hair, no matter how badly I treated it, but I noticed once when I was younger, and going through an "anorexic" phase that it became very dull. When I began eating normally again, it regained its health, but I thought maybe this recent thinning could be a delayed reaction from all my bodily abuse. Of course, I don't starve anymore, so I'm hoping my hair will go back to normal one of these days. One thing you make me think of though when you mentioned environmental factors, is that I broke a mercury thermometer recently (not related to the hair thinning, this happened a couple of months ago). I didn't want to just toss it in the garbage, so I gathered all (I hope) of the mercury & broken pieces, etc, and quadruple bagged it in plastic baggies until I get to the waste disposal place to get rid of it properly. How bad do you think this is for me right now? I have the plastic baggies tied up in a plastic Wild Oats bag, hanging on my bathroom door. I just haven't gotten around to disposing of it yet. Anyway, thanks again for your input. I'm reading a book right now about people who've cured themselves through nutrition, called "Reclaim Your Health." It makes me want to start a juice fast right this second!! LOL!
