I have had issues off and on for as long as I can remember with fecal breath.
when I was 5 they took me to a specialist that checked me for leaky gut. nothin.

I had heard about tonsil stones a few years ago but had never seen anything
in my mouth or throat.

recently I bought a flashlight with a long flexible neck and a small led bulb
at the end.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I spotted a white glob partly hidden
by the arch of skin that leads to that dangley thing at the top of the throat.

when I pulled it out with a toothbrush it had a very stong smell.

further inspection revealed what appeared to be 'stones' lodged in the
crevices around that area. (not around the tonsils)

My breath seemed somewhat improved over the next few weeks, but I still had a
slight 'taste' that I recognized as being a symptom of bb.

I ran into an article soon after that was talking about 'salivary gland stones'.
these are discharges that can in rare cases cause blockage of a duct.

there are lots of ducts around the mouth. I saw one drawing of the ducts
and there seemed to be as many as 20, maybe more.

in my case it looks like I have 4 or 5 all in an area about the size of a small button. those ones are on the side just behind the arch of skin. there also appears to be one near the same area but higher up and completely hidden.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on 'salivary gland stones'
unfortunately.

anyway, I have now started to massage the area even if I cant see any stones
poking out. more often than not, I will get some stones to come out, or
sometimes just a thick white fluid will come out. the fluid doesn't seem
nearly as smelly.

sometimes I have 1 day where nothing at all will come out. my mouth tastes
comepletely different then!

If you find yourself in a similiar situation, prepare to spend the first week
gagging when trying to clean them out... very unpleasant.

I have been coping with this for years and reading up on possible causes/solutions.
a few things to watch for:

*don't gargle for extended periods of time with mouthwash that has alcohol.
it can damage the lining (cells) in your mouth and cause a form of oral necrosis.
which is your own cells dying and sloughing off (and rotting in your mouth)
I stopped using scope until recently. they have brought out a new 'no alcohol'
formula.

*try not to gag too much when doing your cleansing routine. sometimes I gag when
cleaning my tongue, sometimes when cleaning my 'ducts'. stomach acid can damage
the valve that separates the stomach and the esophagus. this in turn can be
a cause of bad breath plus other related issues.

well, I could go on forever...

any commments, tips, links etc on this would be appreciated.
ciao!
