This seems to be sign of depression. Contrary to popular opinion I regard this not as a "mental illness'", but as a physiological illness, where the body has problems producing sufficient amounts of serotonin - the feel good neurotransmitter. This is produced from the food we eat (source tryptophan), but require a host of other nutrients to manufacture serotonin.

Another ingredient is biological energy called ATP required to energize the production of serotonin. People with insulin resistance tend to,lack this energy and hence cannot produce serotonin. The same lack of energy gives one a feeling of lack of e]interest and depersonalization.

This kind of Depression can be overcome without recourse to drugs by nutritional means by going on a hypoglycemic diet.
