Aussiegirl80, I went on Levlen the same day I had Mirena removed. I chose Levlen because I too took it pre-Mirena for a couple of years and was absolutely fine with it.

I'm almost 3 weeks post removal and have had some good days and bad, but nothing compared to the weeks before the Mirena was removed. I thought my bad days may have been attributed to the BC Pill and actually contemplated not taking them anymore, but then I decided it was my freakish paranoya that was convincing me it was the pill and probably Mirena side effects, so I decided to give Levlen some time to work out. So many woman have had problems with their 1st and 2nd periods post-Mirena, I really wanted to have something to help me regulate them.

I've had a rough day or two, but I think it is because of PMS/Mirena side effects and my hormones still working themselves out.
