Hello bella lucia,
yes I'm afraid that mainstream nutritionists/health care professionals are extremely ignorant as to the physiological needs of the body: the advice they give generally, can have devastatingly adverse effects on your health. I can empathize with your experience here.
Apparently the ADA (the American Dietetic Association) tried to outlaw Natural Hygiene, after the enormous success & popularity of Harvey & Marilyn Diamonds books on NH & Weightloss, for the only reason that they didn't agree with it: not that it worked or didn't work mind you. Anyone with so-called "credentials" such as this Association, will go to any lengths if their "authority" is challenged in any way. So much for mainstream dietetics/nutritionists.
Toxemia can reveal itself in many and varied ways. The skin is only one channel of elimination, and the tongue doesn't always fur-up (which was Shelton's experience in some cases) although it will do in the vast majority of fasters.
If you are currently not fasting, then I strongly suggest that you combine your food properly, which will help enormously with detox; for example a classified protein food mixed with a starch food at the same meal, will result in putrefaction and fermentation, which only serves to further add to your toxicity and resultant weight gain.
It is commonly believed amongst Hygienists (me being one of them) that the worse the symptoms of detox while fasting, the more toxemic that individual is, and the more there is a need for a fast anyway.
I had never experienced body odour before in my life before my first fast of 25 days, but my toxemic levels were extremely high: sometimes the body needs to be kick-started into some organs aiding in elimination as the major organs towards this purpose tend to be the lungs, kidneys and liver. The liver being the most important. The skin could kick-in later as these channels become overburdened with the work of detoxification.
Sometimes the skins pores can be so blocked with effluent material, that they do not function properly until toxemia is lowered.
I've been told I am a good listener, so you are very welcome.
Warm regards
Chris
