one of the "side-effects" of fasting that i was really not prepared for was the mental aspect. on my week-long fast (and also even on my most recent 36-hour fast!) i experienced a roller-coaster of emotions and panic attacks... lots of crying, and also times of extreme excitement and anticipation. and while my body was extremely weak, my mind was never quiet... i got very little sleep due to racing thoughts.
could this have anything to do with my body detoxing psychotropic drugs? i was diagnosed with anxiety/depression/OCD (etc, etc.) about 10 years ago and for a few years it felt like my doctor was trying every drug known to mankind (all to no avail...). i'm talking zoloft, celexa, wellbutrin, prozac, resperidone, seroquel, olanzapine, luvox, and more. i also smoked marijuana quite heavily for about a year, back in 2001. i haven't touched marijuana or been on any medications (except for some advil last summer due to a tooth needing a root canal) for about five years.
any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
