i dont think it can really be classified as an open wound because there is still a thin layer of skin even when the lips are at there rawest. an open wound would have to be through every layer of skin.

you say your lips are healing almost like a scab but you have to remember a scab peels.. i cant picture your lips doing this, i imagine when your lips will heal for good they will just stop peeling altogether and not do one last peel like a scab would.
