Kazzy71 I understand your problem and no you did not do something. It sounds like you just had surgery. I had massive FD infections along with a general staph. After countless appointments and Antibiotic tips, the big turn around came from the following methods. If you are getting it like sheets on different body parts rather than a few FD spots or staph spots here and there, you likely have immune issues or your diet is very acidic ( this comes from eating junk food, overly processed, excessive protein, and not enough vegetables and fruits.
Things that helped me:
1. Hydrogen peroxide-- would pour it over area 2 or more times a day, it would stop the itch. Keep your body dry from perspiration, shower often, don't use body moisturizers ( they seemed to make it worse for me)
2. Hyperbaric (HBOT)oxygen therapy- I had this following surgery and went in with a massive infection as well. The hyperbaric gave me back control over my body an d the FD/staph was secondary to why I was receiving HBOT for surgery and vehicular injury. A good place to go with reasonable cost is abilitycamp.com. HBOT will aid your surgery as well.
3. DIET-- this is most important part. Get control of your diet. Throw out the junk and put the good stuff in. Study an alkaline /Acid food chart and food combining principles (Get the harvey diamond book). When you are acidic in nature( results from illness, poor food choices or food imbalance), bacteria and disease set up shop. You have higher resistance when you eat a healthy Diet ( mostly raw fruits and vegetables ideal 80/20 raw/other. Diet is critical in individuals who are susceptible to this . I still have immune issues but don't have anywhere near the problem, occasionally a spot or two pops up.
4. Water fasting- I did this twice. You can get advice from fastingconnection.com
This really helped to heal various skin elements and heal old scars. First heal and then the skin will renew itself as long as you are eating as healthy as possible. When you give your body what it needs, you will see your skin glow and heal and renew itself. Water Fasting helps to detox, but also makes your immune system stronger - and you seem to need that. POst fast , the refeeding period is critical and you cannot go back to your old ways of eating. If you go back to the same lifestyle expect the same results.
5. Don't scratch. Easier said than done. I found taking showers frequently helped and you end the shower . Turn off the water then pour hydrogen peroxide over the areas that need it. Stand in the shower and let it drop off and dry naturally. Do not use your hands to wash use a wash towel, wash glove or wash sponge of some sort. We carry bacteria under our fingernails and all over our body, in an immune suppressed person with wide spread infection or person with large areas of damaged skin, the areas are more prone to damage or reinfection if not cautious. It may be a pain, but a ounce of prevention is worth the 100 pounds of pain and grief you are going through. IF the itch is really bad, you can use over the counter cortizone cream, anti- itch powder, and or benadryl pill or something like that. Ask your doctor about that. It takes alot of will power. But if you think you might scratch in your sleep, take pill, because spreading it unconsciously in a sleep like state is not what you want. THere might be holistic way to do anti- scratch formula and I would look for that first ( I don't know any). Change your clothes often. When I had one, I changed about 3 times a day and used a different shower towel at each shower. Dry face with disposable towel.
Medications will also make your body chemistry more acidic. Honestly,I t hink having an alkaline diet high in whole foods can change your life, it did mine.
Best of luck to you. Write if you have any questions.
