Confused about acidic/alkaline killing candida by sickofhives ..... Candida & Dysbiosis Forum

Ok, I've read (and read) that we should eat foods that create an alkaline condition in our gut, that candida thrives in an acidic condition, so staying on the alkaline side is a way to inhibit candida's growth. Being too acidic is probably how we ended up with candida.

But, we are told to take acidic things to kill it, caprylic acid, etc. I'm confused. Then why wouldn't eating acidic foods kill it as well? Does it have to do with the types of acid?
