i found this for you in shelton's writings:
'Long standing digestive complaints usually require a long fast...
In inflammation of the digestive tract, such as gastritis, enteritis, peritonitis, dysentery, diarrhea, typhoid fever, typhus, cholera, typhlitis, appendicitis, etc., it is essential that fasting be continued for several days after fever and other symptoms have subsided. Even in mild acute disease, it is well always to continue the fast for at least twenty-four hours after the symptoms have subsided.'

however! you probably can achieve this during shorter fasts - within 5-7 days, your body will almost certainly expel some of noxious hideous mucoid plaque that builds up in the walls of your bowels - and this will keep happening during your short fasts.

from my understanding, your weight doesn't necessarily have much to do with how quickly healing occurs. it depends on your levels of toxicity - which i suspect may be higher than you might imagine, given your hypothyroidism. (but like i said, that's just my understanding - i'm sure chrisb1 & fonty will have more info about this!)

if you are experiencing digestive discomfort during refeeding, maybe you can consider doing a 7 day salt water cleanse prior to fasting. i did this and it helped quite a bit. here's a link to the info:

also, have a look into the principles of food combining - even if you are not going to adopt a raw food lifestyle and eat meat, the protocol is still relevant and will assuredly help. chrisb1 has done some awesome posts on food combining in this forum (bless his heart!) and here is a good site which has lots of info on fasting and natural hygiene:
