Hello. I am new to this forum. I am a 33 year old teacher in Virginia. I have been fighting some horrible pain for over 6 years now. I have very tender ribs on the lower left side. The pain seems to radiate from a sore spot and it has been very hard for me and several doctors to agree on what the problem is. I have some reflux, and the tests has shown that I have some inflammation on my esophagus. Several doctors say my reflux is causing my tender ribs, while others say that Costocondritis is the problem. I have a hard time believing that reflux could make my ribs so tender. I have had nerve blocks and cortisone shots, but nothing has helped, which makes me wonder if it could be reflux. I was wondering if anyone could answer the following questions that I have:

1) can Costocondritis be on the lower ribs below the sternum?
2) can eating make the Costocondritis pain worse?
3) can Costocondritis sometimes migrate to the other side of the ribs?
4) can Costocondritis hurt year after year with no breaks?
5) will it ever go away?

Thanks so much for your help.
