No one understands your desperation more than I. But I couldn't live with myself if I didn't do my best to warn people of the consequences. Beyond passing the word, there's nothing more I can do. But it is sad to see someone knowingly damage themselves because of acne...it's understandable when people MUST take a dangerous drug for health issues. But - lucky us - we have the option of taking dangerous drugs for non-essential reasons.

"If they show up significant levels of testosterone then I'll look at those alternatives, other than that? what's left?"

Acne is still a mystery; one poster recently discovered that a "gut bacteria" has been causing his Acne and will hopefully be eradicated when the bad bacteria is gone. Repeated courses of accutane might have temporarily helped him, but would never have gotten to the cause, changing brain chemistry in the meantime. So I would embark on the journey of discovery for YOUR cause, rather than a 6 month band-aid that will leave you worse off than before...what's the point?

So I would endeavor to find out your causal imbalances, as we all have had to do. Besides testosterone, candida should be tested for, as it causes Acne and also lives in the gut, as the previous bacteria I talked about. You apparently have insurance, so get as many tests as possible.

You don't need to be sorry, as you will be the one to suffer, not us. Knowing what happens, I just hate to see somebody else do it to herself as I did. But the information wasn't available when I took it.
