I've had a problem with one tooth/gum on and off for about 2 years. My regular dentist had told me about in 2005 that it was close to the root when he filled it and that I may need a root canal (not).

I recently went to an oral surgeon and he said that he can't say for sure if it is the root and wanted me to go to an endodontist to check and make sure it's not my gum, before pulling. He said a root canal just wouldn't get better with Antibiotics .

Well now I'm having problems with my hips, knees and mild headaches. And, just last week I now have a sore knot on the outside of the tooth down below the tooth. I've been on an antiboditic for a while and it is slowly going away. The tooth itself was numb feeling for a while, and I can feel mild pressure when I push on the outside of the gum. This tooth does not feel like the first tooth I had a root canal in. I'm almost feeling like it is the gum as well.

My ortho doc thinks that I'm developing Rheumatoid Arthritis or fibroidmyalgia. Could the tooth/gum infection be causing this?

Thanks.
