Though I'm not able to address the bloodroot/period issue, I have experienced the major "draw down" that the oral bloodroot brings onto one's system as it is doing its cleansing...and then when the cleansing is finished I experienced a wonderful clean and clear increase in vitality of body, mind and spirit.
