I've dealt with similar syptoms as yourself in the past. I also had/have severe adrenal fatigue.
Going to a phychiatrist may help with panic attacks or anxiety using counceling and anti-phycotic/anti-anxiety medication , but a phychiatrist is not going to be able to help with adrenal fatigue, which manefest symptoms of panic/anxiety in severe cases. Since non-Addison's adrenal hypofuction is not recognised in allopathic medicine, they will not treat it or know how to treat it.
I think that going to a ND would be a good choice as they usually do recognise and know how to treat non-addison's adrenal hypofuction (adrenal fatigue). Though, with naturalpathic medicin and similar types of medical treatment that uses herbs and natural ways to treating illness, you cannot expect fast results. Although it is possible you may experience quick relief of your symptoms using "natural" methods, you should not expect it.
The good thing about more "natural" ways of treating illness is that, most of the time, the treaments will not include anything that can be damaging to your body. Allopathic medicine, on the other hand, almost always uses harsh chemicals in medication that are at least mildy toxic. The good part about using these possibly toxic chemicals is that they can, but not allways, produce fast results.
If you are willing to "stick it out." I wouldn't suggest going to a phychiatrist, as I'm almost positive they will require you to take some sort of strong chemical for treatment. But, if you are having difficulty handling the panic/anxiety the medication they perscribe may give you a more immediate relief. Of course, immediate relief is a never guarentee.
The information on this site and Dr. Wilson's book has helped be tremendously in dealing with and treating my adrenals. I highly recommend you to review the information if you havent already.

Even if you do decide to go to a phychiatrist and take the synthetic medications. You should keep taking the adrenal supporting suppliments you are currently taking. Supporting your adrenals can only help you with your panic and anxiety attacks.
Here's what I've been taking myself to support my adrenals:
Adrenal Caps (or similar adrenal cortical extracts or glandulars in divided doses)
Vitamin C, at least 3000mg a day divided doses.
Vitamin B5, 1500mg divided by 3 times a day (500mg each dose).
Vitamin E(mixed tocopherols) @ at least 800I.U.
B complex (trying out different brands/combos)
Multi-vitamin without iron (cause I have high serum iron)
Sometimes I will take Licorice Extracts.
There's going to be lots of ups and downs treating adrenal fatigue, but hang in there. If you are Christian... even if you are not... I suggest praying to God. He's there whether you believe in Him or not, and He's listening.
Good luck and God bless.
