I think I may have some of those personality traits as you suggest, from the way I was raised among other things; maybe genetics :-).

Over my lifetime I have had to consciously and constantly remind myself to 1. Be able and willing to unlearn what I have learned if it no longer works or is true, and 2. Understand that I do not have to understand everything (micromanagement/understanding of everything will drive one nuts); if it works, it works, the knowing of any one thing can take a lifetime I may not be willing to invest due to other obligations or interests.

These two things (among many others) have helped me a great deal over the years...
