The way I see it is that if scientists came to the conclusion that the culprit of climate change was solar flares (uncontrollable), that would be a 'dead end' (meaning that would be FINAL, and their research would come to an end). If they admitted to themselves and society that water vapor was the culprit (another uncontrollable situation that would not gain them continued notariety), little if anything could be done in that situation.

But by believing that the cause of climate change can be remedied (because it's a man made cause), scientists can negotiate at world conferences and suggest/invent man made solutions in order to exploit the situation. Of course it's man's way to exploit any situation for self gain, but another reason remains,...Humanity simply doesn't want to admit defeat, we only want to recognize what can be controlled.

Nature was always 'holding it's own',...until the last 100 years or so when the INDUSTRIAL age began. After that, there was an AMAZING amount of all types of pollution and environmental abuse. Mankind did this to itself,...what scientist/politician wants to admit that there's nothing that can be done? It can't be reversed.
