I promised to update whenever I detect changes.
A few days ago I got instances of mild scaling. It was no big deal since the skin underneath was ok, when the scales were removed there was not much more to it.
Of course I try to figure out the cause. The main hypothesis was that I changed from an "ecological" extra virgin oil, to a "non-ecological" extra virgin oil. I immediately changed back to the oil that I used before, made from olives that supposedly are "organically grown" without pesticides, artificial fertilizers etc.
The change back to the "ecological" variety made the scaling vanish an a couple of days. So maybe there are important differences between different oils and qualities for this purpose? The "ecological" kind that I found works best has a fresher olive fragrance, also is more neutral in taste and color compared to the non-ecological kind I tested.
Take it as a wild hypothesis but it seems worthwhile to experiment a little also with the kind of extra virgin olive oil you use for fighting SD.
