If this war is a "massive bloodbath", what do you consider the Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc? There were more people killed in Gettysburg in a few hours than there have been in the years this conflict has been going on. Its hardly a "massive bloodbath" based on a war scale. Tragic? Absolutely!!!!! Massive? No.
Most sources say that the American casualties were the following:
406,000 killed (including 6,000 merchant marine civilians)
600,000 Wounded
5,600 American civilians where killed in this war, mostly of them Merchant Marine Sailors that died in convoy wars, and ammo accidents.
World War One
116,708 died
204,002 wounded
