An onlay is as durable as a crown and better for your teeth.
The only situation in which a root canal is needed is when the dentist puts something cold on your tooth to see if you react . If you feel it , your tooth is not dead and you dont need a root canal.
Have you tried oil pulling? It reduces the amount of bacteria around your crowns.
