All of the answers put forward so far are correct.
Sodium chlorite solutions are generally not considered a fire hazard, unless the solution is allowed to evaporate to dryness. A static spark can ignite paper as Tom mentioned. If spilt on clothes you should rinse contaminated clothing with plenty of water. Dried sodium chlorite is highly combustionable.
Myth-busters TV show once did a segment on a farmer in New Zealand who's pants caught on fire after using sodium chlorite as a weed killer and defoliant. The myth was proved.
Sodium chlorite as Tom said will turn shock-sensitive if contaminated with organic matter.
