Any Crown/Root Canal Alternatives? What would you do? by moonstar ..... Dental Problems Support Forum

Due to no dental insurance, poor diet & dental hygiene (plus dealing with systemic Candida)... my mouth is a train wreck!

I went to a local dentist to save my decaying teeth which have turned into craters. My 2 front teeth are crowns from a decade ago (before I knew about the dangers of crowns and in NO WAY will I remove my two front teeth!) An infection has grown in both crowns and I have been told I will need two root canals. There seems no way around it.

I also have been told that 6 of my bottom teeth (near the front) will need crowns because the cavities are from the bottom up and are too large to fill with regular filling. Even if he tried, he said the fillings wouldn't hold and pop out. He said a partial crown won't stay either. Neither will an inlay. Yikes. I feel my back is against the wall.

It looks like I am stuck with getting 2 root canals and 6 crowns. I am aware of those books like Tooth Truth, etc, but unfortunately the damage has already been done and I don't know how to undo it without these procedures. I cannot extract these teeth - I need them for chewing and smiling!

What would you do if you were in my situation? I wish I didn't have to do root canals or crowns but I don't know what the alternative are.

Thanks for anyone's help.
